Selling Your Products and Services to State Farm®
Does SF buy from many trading partners?
State Farm buys products and services from thousands of suppliers, vendors,
and service providers. We generally call them 'trading partners.' This website
exists to provide another channel of communication with our existing trading
partners and those businesses that would like to become trading partners.
Presentations
All vendor representatives will be given an opportunity to present an explanation
of their company's products and/or services. Suppliers are encouraged to schedule
a mutually agreeable time to visit.
Contacts with Other Departments
The Purchasing Division is responsible for purchasing the majority of the products
and services required by all State Farm Companies. Negotiating, competitive
bidding, and awarding of contracts is done by Purchasing. Also, the coordination
of testing new items and adopting of new company standards is the responsibility
of the Purchasing Division.
Exceptions include advertising, legal representation, insurance, real estate,
and investments.
Vendors and their representatives are to make their contacts through the
purchasing function of Administrative Services. It is the responsibility
of the buyers to pass on to potentially interested State Farm employees
appropriate information derived from vendor interviews, direct mail, or
other advertising.
In addition, when advisable, the Purchasing function will arrange interviews
between the vendor representatives and State Farm technical and management
representatives.
Purchasing representatives are to be in attendance at all such interviews
for the purpose of keeping fully informed about the product and its applications
and to ensure a more satisfactory purchase, since further negotiations and
the issuance of the order will be handled through Purchasing.
Vendors may encounter confidential business information of
the Companies. Whether it is in the form of business, trade secret information,
or procedural,
you may not disclose this information to third parties without
the written consent of an officer of the State Farm Insurance Companies®.
Keys to doing business with State Farm
Success as a supplier depends on offering good products backed by quality
service. Other considerations include a good business reputation, appropriate
financial standing, the ability to meet delivery deadlines, the availability
