Workers' Compensation - Electronic Billing Overview

State Farm® Workers' Compensation claims related to a State Farm® Workers' Compensation policy, are handled by Sedgwick, a third party administrator. This includes processing and issuing payments for medical bills sent electronically, mailed, or faxed.

For receiving medical bills electronically, Sedgwick currently uses a connection with WorkCompEDI.

Providers and Electronic Data Exchange (EDI) clearinghouses may contact WorkCompEDI or they may contact Sedgwick’s customer support phone number listed below for information on how to create the connection. If you are already exchanging electronic health care claim transactions with another clearinghouse, then please contact your clearinghouse about how they can route your electronic medical bills for workers’ compensation to Sedgwick by way of WorkCompEDI.

Workers’ Compensation - Clearinghouse/Payer ID Information

State Farm® Workers' Compensation claims related to a State Farm® Workers' Compensation policy, are handled by Sedgwick, a third party administrator. This includes processing electronic medical bills/attachments. Sedgwick currently uses a connection with WorkCompEDI to receive those.

If you or your billing software vendor is already exchanging electronic health care claim transactions with another clearinghouse, they may be able to route your electronic health care claim transactions to Sedgwick by the way of WorkCompEDI.

If you are not currently exchanging electronic health care transactions, you may contract with any clearinghouse of your choice. However, they must connect either with WorkCompEDI or have a connection with another clearinghouse who already connects to WorkCompEDI.

Below is a list of the known State Farm® Workers’ Compensation Payer ID’s established and used by Intermediary Clearinghouses. This is not an all-inclusive list. If you need assistance identifying the proper Payer ID, then check with your billing software vendor or contact your clearinghouse.

Some billing software applications use descriptive company names instead of Payer IDs. Examples of such entries for State Farm are:

  • State Farm Property and Casualty
  • State Farm Workers’ Comp
  • State Farm Auto

If you are unsure about which Payer Id or labeled option to select for routing bills/attachments to Sedgwick electronically, contact your Clearinghouse or billing software vendor for instructions. If necessary, have your Clearinghouse or billing software vendor contact WorkCompEDI for instructions.

Note: Submitting electronic bills/attachments to Sedgwick using an incorrect routing path may result in the bill being rejected, denied, or delayed.
