Submitting the Property & Casualty Claim Number in an Electronic Health Care Claim Transaction

Mandated States - Minnesota

State Farm® Property and Casualty will process the following electronic health care claim transactions that must be exchanged as per the state of Minnesota mandate, and as defined by the companion guide based on the bill type.

Non-Mandated States

State Farm® Property and Casualty voluntarily processes electronic health care claim transactions for all other non-mandated states. The following electronic bill transactions are processed.

Sending Electronic Health Care Claim Transactions

State Farm® Property and Casualty uses a connection with UHIN to exchange electronic health care claim transactions.

Providers and Electronic Data Exchange (EDI) clearinghouses can contact UHIN for information on how to create the connection. If you are already exchanging electronic health care claim transactions with another clearinghouse, they should be able to get your electronic health care claim transactions routed to State Farm® by way of UHIN.

Sending Electronic Retail Pharmacy Claim Transactions

For pharmacy submissions using the NCPDP Telecommunication Standard D.0 or Batch Standard 1.2 to send your electronic claim transactions, there are two routing paths.

If you have not established a relationship with a Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) that will route to State Farm, then you can utilize Issuer Identification Number (IIN) also known as Bank Identification Number (BIN) 502805.

If you have established a relationship with a Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) that will route to State Farm, then you can utilize the (IIN)/(BIN) for that entity.

Health Care Claim Payment/Advice (835)

Mandated States - Minnesota

State Farm® Property and Casualty will create the following electronic health care payment remittance transaction that must be exchanged as per the state of Minnesota mandate and the companion guide rules.

Non-Mandated States

State Farm® Property and Casualty does not currently create electronic health care payment remittances for non-mandated states.

Receiving Electronic Health Care Payment/Advice Transactions

State Farm® Property and Casualty uses a connection with UHIN to make the electronic health care payment remittance transactions available for retrieval.

Providers and Electronic Data Exchange (EDI) clearinghouses can contact UHIN for information on how to retrieve the electronic payment remittance transactions.

For State Farm® Property and Casualty, there is no enrollment process necessary to receive electronic payment remittances.

State Farm® Property and Casualty voluntarily creates electronic acknowledgments for all non-mandated states. The following electronic acknowledgment transactions are created.

Receiving Electronic Implementation and Claim Acknowledgments

State Farm® Property and Casualty uses a connection with the UHIN to make the electronic acknowledgment transactions available for retrieval.

Providers and Electronic Data Exchange (EDI) clearinghouses can contact UHIN for information on how to retrieve the electronic acknowledgments. If you are currently sending electronic medical bills to State Farm, then your acknowledgments are being made available for retrieval through UHIN.

If you have received your acknowledgments and have a question regarding the rejection reason received in one of them then you can send an email to our Electronic P&C Electronic Billing Support Team, edisupport@statefarm.com. If you have not received your acknowledgments and your clearinghouse has told you State Farm® has not made the acknowledgments available for the bills you have sent, then you can send an email to our Electronic P&C Electronic Billing Support Team, edisupport@statefarm.com.

Additional Information to Support a Health Care
Claim or Encounter (275)

State Farm® Property and Casualty can receive supporting documents electronically using the Additional Information to Support a Health Care Claim or Encounter Support - ASC X12N 275(005010X210) transaction.

Sending Electronic Claim Attachments Transactions

State Farm® Property and Casualty uses a connection with UHIN to receive electronic claim attachment transactions. State Farm® Property and Casualty only accepts electronic claim attachment transactions that contain the binary data in PDF, TIF, or JPEG formats.
